A Te Deum for old Annie – A Tale for Christmas

I wrote this piece, which appeared in the Church of Ireland Gazette, in December 1995, when going through a bad time with depression, and found it again this week. It was written when I was Rector of the Parishes of Bright, Ballee and Killough on the east coast of Co Down. My own parishioners recognized the story immediately – Ballykill Church is Ballee and Drumkilly was the church at Clonmellon in Co Westmeath. The ‘vestry’ is the parish church council.
