We don't have the clear skies, anyway, even when it is midsummer, as it is in Oz. When the fireworks are over, what do people do? I agree, a lot of fuss about nothing but the fireworks in Sydney are spectacular and funds raised this year go to the WWF so it's not all show and revelry but a little more impressive than watching a clock at Trafalgar Square. I knew of one Presbyterian minister who lost members of his congregation when he introduced a Christmas Day service; it was a place where they held a Watchnight Service on 31st December each year, without any dissenting voices.
