The greatest shame I ever felt was the failure of my own church to do anything effective to prevent the intimidation and burning of Catholic homes, even in the late 90s, by those acting in the name of being &quot;Protestant&quot;.  The usual excuse that both sides did it doesn&#039;t hold water - as my Nan used to say, &quot;two wrongs don&#039;t make a right.&quot;

Aerial shots of Kikuyu people in Kenya flocking to the churches for protection were a frightening reminder of pogroms in Europe not so long ago.</description>
